Mega Muffins For Mom

Tomorrow and for several days hence my Mom will be visiting my fair city, and we will need lots of snackage to keep us on the prowl around town and throughout the state.

Coincidentally, my supply of MegaMuffins has just dwindled to nothing, so it was time for a new batch. Hmmm, just what are these "mega" muffins, you ask, and what makes them so deserving of the mega title?

Simple. First, they are tasty, filled with the scents of a rich spice bread - nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger. Second, they contain more nutrients than your average multivitamin, and all of that goodness comes from real ingredients instead of a chemical plant.

The downside? They have an ingredient list a mile long and a full batch takes 4-5 hours to mix, blend, combine, bake, cool, and package. Whew!

[huge bowl of batter, dwarfing the 1/4 cup scoop wedged into the mound]

But when they're all done, you have 48 cute little bundles of spicy muffiny blobs, all frozen and ready to be nuked in the morning to eat with your coffee, either on the way to work or just sitting at the table in the morning calm.

Recipe and gory details plus the fascinating history of the MegaMuffin may or may not follow.... it really is gory, I promise, and soon I must trudge off to sleep.

Good night, and sweet dreams.

Talk at me:
I take offense to your comment to the Albuquerque Tribune that your dad "was a typical Midwestern cook... he overcooked everything".

What an ignorant generalization to Midwesterners who love to cook. - Marie

Recipe for the Mega Muffins?? Please! Can you hear those far off voices? It's my children begging for these muffins. They won't stop until I give them some. For my own sanity, please post the recipe!

You made megamuffins!!! Awesome!!!
